A holiday meal is beyond the means of those who struggle to buy weekly groceries. Every year before Thanksgiving, the Goodman Community Center collects food to help 3,500 families enjoy a full Thanksgiving meal with their loved ones. TBE’s Jewish educational program participates in a friendly grade-level competitionto see which grade level can collect the most food. We collect canned fruits and vegetables, cranberry sauce, broth, boxes of mac and cheese, boxes of stuffing, and aluminum roaster pans. Collection bins are in the coatroom. The grade that brings the most of their item will be presented with a certificate for a tree planted in Israel. -

Join Hannah Rosenthal, our scholar-in-residence for the weekend, in honoring the memory of Rabbi Swarsensky. She will share stories and information about him, drawing on her experiences as a former TBE education director and congregant who knew Rabbi Swarsensky since her childhood. The program includes a Q&A session. Bring your personal stories and memorabilia to share. This program is free to attend, but we welcome a donation of $5–$18 to the Rabbi Swarsensky Fund for continued scholar-in-residence programming. Rabbi Manfred E. Swarsensky was the founding rabbi of Temple Beth El, serving from 1940 to 1970. -
