Tzedakah of the Month

Tzedakah is a Hebrew word and Jewish concept referring to social justice and charity, which involves giving money, time, or effort to those in need, not just out of generosity, but as a duty rooted in justice. Each month Temple Beth El will have a rotating monthly tzedakah recipient. Each month we’ll select a nonprofit organization, locally or in Israel.

January 2026: Open Doors for Refugees
This month's Tzedakah of the Month is Open Doors for Refugees, a volunteer group in Madison that helps refugees and immigrants settle by providing essentials, language and job support, and community connections. Amid funding cuts and systemic barriers, it works to celebrate cultures, promote self-reliance, and sustain long-term resettlement efforts.
