Supporting One Another Through the Government Shutdown: A Message from Rabbi Jon Prosnit

Nov4

In these troubled times, as federal funding vanishes and the safety nets disappear, we feel for the millions of Americans who no longer have access to their SNAP benefits. No doubt feelings of insecurity can easily leave us feeling anxious or alone. Yet the Jewish community, and our synagogue here in Madison, have always been our source of strength, rooting us in tradition and reminding us: “It is not good for humans to be alone.”

If you are struggling because of the rippling impacts of the government shutdown, please reach out. We are here to support you.

TBE is once again partnering with Goodman Community Center’s 37th annual Thanksgiving Basket Drive. We encourage you to drop off food at TBE or contribute through our Tzedakah of the Month initiative.

Finally, here is an action item from Mazon: A Jewish Response to Hunger, calling on Congress to fully fund SNAP benefits.
