All Day for 45 DaysTBE coatroom

Our annual Thanksgiving food collection is back this year in partnership with the Goodman Community Center, which has been providing a holiday meal for the past 33 years to very appreciative families. The need continues to be great this year, and the Goodman Community Center has set a goal of 4,000 baskets to help 22,000 individuals (including 10,000 children) enjoy a holiday meal. Our food collection is part of this effort. This takes a village—there are multiple ways to give.

Everyone can participate! You can bring just one item, several items, or best of all, a whole flat of cans or boxes.

We’re collecting:

  • Boxes of macaroni and cheese (4K & kindergarten)
  • Boxes of stuffing (1st grade)
  • Aluminum roaster pans (2nd grade)
  • Cans of fruit (3rd grade)
  • Cans of vegetables (4th grade)
  • Broth, any kind (5th grade)
  • Cans of cranberry sauce (6th grade)
  • Gravy (7th grade)

Grade level competition continues. The grade that brings the most of their item will be presented with a certificate for a tree planted in Israel.

Anyone can donate these items, and the grade will be credited for the donation, even if it was made by a family with no students in our school.

Donations will be collected until 11:00 am on Sunday, November 21. There are three places you can drop off items:

  • Staresinic family porch (West side): 6733 Gaylord Nelson Road, Middleton WI 53562
  • Swedarsky porch (East side): 1819 Rutledge Street, Madison WI 53704
  • Temple Beth El coatroom: 2702 Arbor Drive, Madison WI 53711 (during regular business hours or, for school families only, during Religious School)

If you prefer to make a monetary donation, you can give directly to the Goodman Community Center at goodmancenter.org/donate. On the third step of the donation process, please select Thanksgiving Basket Drive from the “I would like this gift to support” dropdown menu, and type in Temple Beth El for “This gift is part of the Food Drive organized by:” (see image).

Families receiving a Thanksgiving basket are grateful to have a holiday meal to enjoy together—and our donations help make this possible.
