A Gathering for Trans and Nonbinary Congregants and Those with Trans and Nonbinary Loved Ones

Saturday, February 15, 2025 17 Sh'vat 5785

1:30 PM - 3:00 PMZoom

We know this has been a difficult month, coming during a difficult period for our country. In the last few weeks alone, we have seen statements and actions coming out of the new administration removing protections for transgender and nonbinary people in our country, putting their safety and well-being at risk, or otherwise attempting to diminish their visibility in the public sphere.

At Temple Beth El we want transgender and nonbinary people, along with their loved ones, to know:
•    We see you in the fullness of your humanity. This is your community, and we are here for you!
•    Jewish values affirm the dignity and value of all people, regardless of gender identity or expression. As it says in Genesis 1:27, “And God created the human in God’s image, in the image of God, God created them.” From this foundational Jewish principle arises our unwavering commitment to protect every individual from discrimination rooted in ignorance, fear, insensitivity, or hatred.

We are hosting a private gathering for Temple Beth El members who are trans or nonbinary, or who have trans or nonbinary loved ones, with a goal to create a safe space and provide one another with comfort and support.
