Sunday, September 15, 2019 15 Elul 5779

1:00 PM - 3:00 PMSwarsensky Social Hall

Temple Beth El Sisterhood invites you to our fall luncheon, where transplant surgeon Joshua Mezrich speaks about his new book, When Death Becomes Life

He’ll offer an inside perspective on his daily work in the field of transplantation as well as an illuminating look at the ethical and philosophical issues behind this life-saving science.

Published by HarperCollins in January 2019, When Death Becomes Life has been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air and reviewed in the Wall Street Journal and Nature.

As described on the book’s cover, “When Death Becomes Life offers the human story behind the most exceptional medical advancements of our time and stands as a beautiful, poignant reminder that a life lost can also offer the hope of a new beginning.”

Joshua Mezrich, a TBE member, is an associate professor of surgery at the UW School of Medicine.

Everyone is welcome to attend this program, and you won’t want to miss it!

Lunch menu: Chicken Niçoise salad (vegetarian option with tofu), French bread, fresh fruit croustade.

Please register by September 6 using the form below, or mail a check for $17/person payable to TBE Sisterhood to Molly Fields (129 N. Prospect Ave., Madison, WI 53726; 608-698-7318); please specify if vegetarian.

At this event, we will be collecting donations of menstrual products (e.g., pads, tampons) to help those in need at Grace Episcopal Shelter.
