Sounding the Shofar across Madison

Friday, August 21, 2020 1 Elul 5780

12:00 PM - 1:00 PMFacebook Live

Step 3: Repentance and Atonement

To repent is to feel remorse or self-reproach for the transgressions one has done or things one failed to do, to the point where one’s regret concerning past actions is strong enough to change one’s mind or point of view regarding those actions.

To mark the beginning of Elul, the shofar will be sounded at key locations around Madison. Listen in person or watch on Facebook as members of our community sound the shofar one after another, creating a wave of sound across Madison.

Feel free to join us at one of the five locations around Madison:

  • Wingra Park (dock on the far left)
  • Elver Park (outside the activity building)
  • Breese Stevens Field (corner of East Mifflin and South Paterson Streets)
  • Firemen's Park in Middleton (covered area)
  • Downtown (corner of North Carroll and West Mifflin Streets)

Please stay socially distanced from one another and at least six feet from the shofar blower and the person recording them.
