Transformation Journey Workshop: Michsholei T'shuvah: Roadblocks to Transformation

Thursday, September 3, 2020 14 Elul 5780

7:00 PM - 8:00 PMZoom

Step 6: Renewal and Transformation

T’shuvah – return – is concerned with who people will become in the future. While couched mainly in the language of petition and supplication, the prayers of forgiveness ask for the strength to change, to renew and transform ourselves into a better “version” of ourselves. Psalm 51:12: “Create a pure heart for me, O God; renew in me a steadfast spirit.”

Join Rabbi Jonathan Biatch for an educational session on identifying the roadblocks that prevent us from reaching transformation. How do we get out of our own way? We may encounter many possible roadblocks on the journey toward t’shuvah and true transformation. Personal pride, hubris, stubbornness, fear of confronting one’s mistakes, hesitation to acknowledge one’s faults, and anxiety about a new future with different behavioral boundaries and new outcomes are among the potential obstructions. We will try to identify the barriers to new ways of living so that each of us will be better able to find a new place in the world.
