LGBTQ COMMUNITY INCLUSION TRAINING

Wednesday, August 7, 2019 6 Av 5779

10:00 AM - 2:30 PMSocial Hall

A special training for Jewish professionals by Daniel Bahner, National Director of Education and Training at Keshet on Wednesday, August 7, 10:00 am - 2:30 pm. This training, sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Madison and hosted by Temple Beth El, is to help us be more welcoming and inclusive of our LGBTQ constituents. Now more than ever, LGBTQ Jews need to know that their Jewish institutions are safe and inclusive spaces for them. This training will give Jewish professionals the tools to begin and/or strengthen this work in their communities. We will start by building a shared language around LGBTQ identity and experience, as well as how gender operates within society. We will then begin to discuss how the work of LGBTQ inclusion allows us to become a more authentic version of ourselves by highlighting the connection between Jewish text, tradition, and inclusion. We will close our time together by discussing how institutions can make changes to their programs, policies, and culture to become more LGBTQ inclusive. The Jewish Federation of Madison is proud to sponsor this important training and offer participation for free to our Madison Jewish community organization professionals. RSVP Requested: Email Kendra Sager, Associate Executive Director, at associate@tbemadison.org by August 1 with the names of those who will attend. We can accommodate up to 50 participants and welcome clergy and staff of all Jewish institutions in Madison at every level. We will plan to break for lunch for half an hour, so please pack a sack lunch. We encourage you not to miss this unique opportunity to learn from Keshet, the only organization in the US that works for LGBTQ equality in all facets of Jewish life. We look forward to spending the day together!
