Join us for an online viewing and engaging discussion of the movie “Sand Storm,”  which portrays a Bedouin family’s struggle with tradition versus modernity. Run time is 87 minutes.

Produced in 2016 and written by Elite Zexer, “Sand Storm” won the Grand Jury Prize in the World Cinema Dramatic section at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival. The film's action takes place in a tiny Bedouin village in the heart of the desert. “Sand Storm” focuses on family relationships in the midst of clashes between old and new. Mother (Jalila) and daughter (Layla) are caught in a bond of love with tradition pitted against modernity, and united in opposing the paternal oligarch, Suliman.
