Dane Sanctuary Coalition’s Volunteer Driver Project Training Session

Monday, October 7, 2019 8 Tishrei 5780

7:00 PM - 8:30 PMFirst Baptist Church, 518 N. Franklin Ave.

Are you looking for a way to help immigrants deal with the legal system? Consider volunteering as driver to give rides to immigration hearings and appointments.

The Volunteer Driver Project of the Dane Sanctuary Coalition has provided over 30 rides since it began last December. About two-thirds of the rides were to the US Customs and Immigration office in Milwaukee and one-third were to the Chicago Immigration Court. Immigration attorneys have been ecstatic about the assistance this service provides, and drivers report how fulfilling it is to them personally.

Requirements to be a volunteer driver are as follows:

1. Valid driver’s license

2. Up-to-date car insurance

3. Attendance at a driver training session

4. U.S. citizenship

Want to learn more? Come to the next volunteer driver training to get the details. The training will be on Monday, October 7, 7:00–8:30 pm, at First Baptist Church, 518 N. Franklin Ave. Free parking is available in the church’s west-side parking lot, where you can enter the building. The training session will be downstairs.

Please RSVP by October 4 if you plan to attend. Email Dorit Bergen at elanor3560@att.net to RSVP or with any questions.
