Visit to Milwaukee's America's Black Holocaust Museum

Friday, December 1, 2023 18 Kislev 5784

9:15 AM - 3:00 PMAmerica's Black Holocaust Museum, 401 W. North Ave., Milwaukee

Join Temple Beth El's Racial Justice Action Team in touring America's Black Holocaust Museum, founded by Dr. James Cameron, the only known survivor of a lynching.

Dr. Cameron founded this museum about the Black Holocaust in America after visiting Yad Vashem, the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Jerusalem. He saw the many similarities between the experiences of the Jewish people and African Americans. He admired how Jewish people value their history and saw how this truth-telling gave Jewish communities strength and hope. He wanted the same for African American communities.

We will divide into cars and travel to Milwaukee for the guided tour (11 am), then debrief and enjoy lunch together at Pepper Pot, a nearby Black-owned restaurant, before heading back to Madison. Learn more about the museum at abhmuseum.org.

There is a $10 fee payable at the museum entrance. Participants will order and pay for their own lunch. Carpools will be arranged. Please register below.
