7:45 pm Program - Jewish Artists' Lab presents: A Take on Judy Chicago's Dinner Party

The Jewish Artists’ Lab is one of six Midwest groups of artists and friends who support each other’s work as artists. New members are welcome. Members of the Jewish Artists’ Lab were invited to participate in a project reminiscent of Judy Chicago's Dinner Party installation. They were to choose Jewish Artists with whom they'd like to dine.

Madison and Milwaukee Jewish Artists’ Lab members, as well as friends turned out great work. For some it was an opportunity to gaze into a face they admired and catch the essence. For others it was a chance to pay homage to a friend or relative who had passed.

On March 2, as part of the Shabbat Starts Here Program, Ellen Meyer, Eve Siegel, and Leslie Coff, members of the TBE community, will be showing their work called, “Artists doing Artists.” The artists will discuss their work, and why they chose their subjects, along with a bit about the lives of the artists and the process of creating the portraits. Participants will be invited to discuss what makes their work or messages Jewish. Among those pictured are Louise Nevelson, Leonard Cohen, Woody Allen, Allen Ginsberg and James Rosenquist.
