Join us for "Eco Know-How: Expert Tips for Environmental Challenges," a virtual event where experts guide you through practical solutions for everyday environmental problems. Explore breakout rooms on topics like solar panels, waste reduction, and more. Get hands-on tips to make a real difference for the planet—one step at a time!

After a brief overview, we will break into Zoom rooms to hear from our speakers. You can sign up for two out of four panels:

1) Lawn maintenance the natural way | Speaker: Becky Kielstrup

Becky has been in the industry for over 30 years with a focus on maintaining the landscape. She has acquired an extreme passion for organic maintenance but with a realistic side to it. So much so that in the last ten years she has implemented many organic practices at Avant Gardening Landscaping. Becky loves plants and nature and that is what drives her every day. In her spare time, she loves to work in her yard, go camping, and go on nature walks.

2) How to electrify your household | Speaker: Eneida Hysi

As a U.S. Department of Energy Community Energy Fellow, Eneida supports Dane County’s Energy and Climate Change office with the Home Energy Guides program, through which she coordinates with community-based organizations to help increase household participation in energy efficiency programs.This program will focus particularly on electric vehicles and stoves.

3) Tips and tricks for improving your environmental impact as a consumer | Speaker: Catherine Frerker

Catherine is a passionate advocate for sustainable living and a Sales Associate at Green Life Trading Co., an eco-friendly store specializing in bulk goods and green products. She will help us understand the full life cycle of the products you buy, including production materials, durability, packaging, and end of life. Catherine will guide us through strategies for finding trusted brands, recognizing greenwashing, and avoiding harmful ingredients and unnecessary waste.

4) Solar panels for domestic use | Speaker: Ron Chester

Ron has over ten years of project management experience, working in both renewable energy and in government contracting. He has a master’s degree in business administration and is now the General Manager of Full Spectrum Solar, which installs solar electric systems for Wisconsin businesses, homeowners, public authorities, and community organizations. Ron loves to interact with consumers, educating them on the benefits of solar energy and how it might help them with their financial and environmental goals.
