Come and share with Rabbi Jonathan Biatch what he learned, experienced, saw, and engaged in while in Israel during his recent sabbatical. The Israeli-Gaza conflict continues, and the dynamics shift each day. Rabbi Biatch spent two weeks of his recent sabbatical leave in Israel, visiting various parts of the country, volunteering for Rabbis for Human Rights, and evaluating the current climate of politics, religion, and the process of democracy.

Light refreshments will be served. This members-only program will begin to portray some of the challenges of the current Israel and Palestine situation, leading to a broader discussion about the importance of Israel in the lives of Diaspora Jews and their families. This program will be livestreamed, including discussion with those present. If you can't attend in person, you will be able to offer questions in the registration process.

“Why? Because Israel Matters” is a forum for TBE members to learn about the crucial and shifting set of politics and community in Israel. Since the Hamas attacks of October 7, 2023, we have focused on individual and communal responses to the war and its continuing challenge to the Israeli and worldwide Jewish community. On this night, participants will observe some of the sights and sounds of Rabbi Biatch’s visit, seek information about the current state of affairs, be able to express your opinions about the situation, and strategize how our community can both learn about the situation and help.
