Come one, come all to the Greatest Purim Carnival in Madison! Step right up and be thrilled by the most amazing, the most exhilarating, the most incredible show on Earth as our clergy and educators perform the death-defying story of Esther. Clown around with us in your favorite costume. One day only, Sunday, March 24, 2024, 11:00 am–2:00 pm.

Schedule 

  • 10:45 am Doors open 
  • 11:00 am Big Top entertainment begins 
    • 11:05 am Purim shpiel with Jewish community clergy and staff
    • 12:30–1:00 pm Performance by David Landau, "The King of Kids' Music" 
    • Other Big Top entertainment includes:

  • 11:20 am–2:00 pm Carnival festivities open (after the shpiel): carnival games, activities, crafts, prizes, food sales, and more!
  • 2:00 pm Doors close 

Admission

  • Ages 2–12: $9 per child ($25 maximum for 3 or more children) for advance online registration (below) through Thursday, March 21; $10 per child ($30 maximum for 3 or more children) starting Friday, March 22 or at the door. 
  • Adults or children under 2 years: No charge.

Activities

Shushan Under Construction: Help build Shushan out of LEGO bricks! Bounce house, crafts, basketball for littles and bigs, face painting, duck pond, bozo buckets, mini golf, bowling, Haman bean bag toss, giant Jenga, ring toss, trivia, ball pit for littles, lollipop pull, and so much more! 

Volunteers Needed! 

Calling all teens and adults: Volunteer to help make the fun happen for the Community Purim Carnival! Help set up in advance, run activities and game booths, give out prizes, sell snacks, or clean up afterward. There are lots of ways to lend a hand to bring this circus to town. Sign up to volunteer now!

Order Hamantaschen 

Hamantaschen by Adamah at UW Hillel are for sale by the dozen or half dozen in advance and individually at the carnival. All hamantaschen are parve and certified kosher by Wisconsin K. Flavors are raspberry, apricot, apple, and poppy. Pickup is available at multiple locations. Order deadline is Sunday, March 17, but please order early as supplies could run out!
