Casting Call for the TBE Purim Shpiel: “The Shushan Bride”

We are searching for actors and singers for the TBE Purim shpiel, “The Shushan Bride,” inspired by the 1987 film “The Princess Bride.” The shpiel will take place live and in person in our sanctuary on Monday, March 6, 6:00–8:30 pm. “The Shushan Bride” features heroes, villains, misogynists, feminists, and a miraculous rescue! Not just your basic, average, every-day, ordinary, run-of-the-mill, ho-hum Purim shpiel.

We have larger and smaller roles, some singing, some acting, some congregating. Come and find out what’s best for you. RSVP below.

Here is our orientation and rehearsal schedule:

Thursday, February 2, 7:00–8:30 pm – intro, orientation, and music for all potential cast members Sunday, February 5, 12:30–2:30 pm – non-music read-through and rehearsal Sunday, February 12, 12:30–2:30 pm – non-music read-through and rehearsal Thursday, February 16, 7:00–8:30 pm – music Sunday, February 19, 12:30–2:30 pm – non-music read-through and rehearsal Thursday, February 23, 7:00–8:30 pm – music Sunday, February 26, 12:30–2:30 pm – general rehearsal Thursday, March 2, 7:00–8:30 pm – tech—all cast

Monday, March 6, 6:00–8:30 pm – performance

If you are even remotely interested in participating, please email Rabbi Jonathan Biatch (rabbi@tbemadison.org) and Cantor Jacob Niemi (cantor@tbemadison.org) or RSVP below. We’ll have fun storming that castle! Since the invention of the Purim shpiel, there have been five Purim shpiels that were rated the funniest, the most inspiring, the most distracting, and the most authentic. Ours might leave them all behind: come and be a part of it!
