Martin Luther King Jr. Fund Donation Drive

Every year near the holiday honoring Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., TBE members step up to support critical needs in the Black community. This year we are partnering with the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development to provide personal hygiene and cleaning supplies.

Over the years, generous TBE members have contributed thousands of dollars to purchase health and hygiene products such as toilet paper, paper towels, toothpaste, deodorant, diapers, menstrual products, shampoo, laundry soap, and dish detergent. These items cannot be bought with food stamps, even though they are essential to personal health and dignity.

Can you or your family help us fulfill this mitzvah? The TBE Racial Justice Action Team will use the money you donate and buy the supplies in bulk. You can make your tax-deductible donation on the Temple website (select “MLK Donation” as the donation type). Or mail a check to Temple Beth El, 2702 Arbor Drive, Madison, WI 53711, with “MLK Donation” in the memo. 

We are also looking for volunteers to (1) help assemble the supplies in early February, and (2) come to the Nehemiah Center on the third Thursday of each month to assemble and hand out these and other supplies.
