Dorot Society
Your Legacy, Our Future
Lifetime and Legacy Giving
The Hebrew word dorot means “generations.” At Temple Beth El, we teach the next generation to embrace Jewish life, just as we were taught by those who came before us. With the goal of sustaining Temple Beth El for future generations, membership in the Dorot Society offers you the opportunity to include Temple in your estate plan.
Consider making an investment in our future by becoming a member of the Dorot Society.
THE FUTURE OF TEMPLE BETH EL DEPENDS ON YOU
By uniting thousands of years of tradition with modern experience, Temple Beth El offers many ways for congregants to participate in meaningful and engaging religious, spiritual, educational, social action, and communal activities. We honor the generations who founded, nurtured, and grew Temple Beth El into the vibrant congregation we treasure.
At the same time, we look ahead and affirm our pledge to ensure a bright and meaningful future for the generations who will carry on with passion and commitment. Now it is time for us to continue this legacy, by providing a solid foundation for Jewish life to grow and thrive at Temple Beth El for our children and grandchildren, and through the generations.
YOUR IMPACT THROUGH THE DOROT SOCIETY
These are challenging times, and we need to ensure that we can make a real difference where it matters for Temple Beth El, for generations to come.
By including Temple Beth El in your estate plan, you demonstrate your wishes to provide for Temple’s future well-being.
“As my ancestors planted for me, I plant for my children and my children’s children.”
(Taanit 23)
PLEASE JOIN US
- You can make a legacy gift that costs nothing during your lifetime.
- Naming Temple Beth El in your will or revocable trust or as the beneficiary of your life insurance or IRA will support future generations without affecting your cash flow during your lifetime. Your attorney can include a provision for TBE when you prepare or revise your estate plan, or you can add an amendment at any time.
- There are many ways to leave a legacy, and many tools to help with estate planning. Including a gift in your estate plan is a way to say thank you to all who came before you and those who will continue to ensure the well-being of TBE for generations to come.
- A gift of a charitable remainder trust can make a difference in the lives of future generations of Reform Jews in Madison, while retaining a property interest for your children or other beneficiaries, with the added satisfaction that others in the future will benefit from your generous act today.
- You can designate a restricted purpose for your gift, and by TBE policy, for gifts over $25,000 a special fund can be created. (For undesignated legacy gifts, 75% will be invested in the TBE Yerusha Fund and 25% will be invested in the TBE Board Designated Reserve Fund.)
A TRUSTED PARTNERSHIP
You can have confidence that Temple Beth El will be a responsible steward of your philanthropy, and our partnership with Johnson Bank means that our assets are professionally managed.
Join the Dorot Society
Just complete the Declaration of Intent form and return it to the Temple office to be included among our esteemed membership.
Our commitment to promoting the values of Reform Judaism is strong and deep. A gift to Temple Beth El through the Dorot Society will be a permanent connection between your family and the ideals we uphold.
Please let us know if you would like to arrange for a personal consultation. We welcome the chance to answer any questions about your giving objectives and the variety of options for meeting them.

“We have found a home at Temple Beth El and are so grateful to this community for supporting us. We want future generations to reap the benefits of the seeds we have planted.”
