6:30 Rainbow Reception

7:30 Pride Shabbat Service

Celebrate Pride and welcome Shabbat with a rainbow-themed reception and a special Pride Shabbat service honoring the Jewish LGBTQ+ community and allies. Enjoy a colorful array of sights, sounds, and tastes representing LGBTQ+ pride. This family-friendly event will include rainbow-colored foods and craft projects. All family and friends are welcome to join us in this community celebration of love, faith, equality, and respect.

We are also honored that scholar and activist Richard Wagner will be joining us as a speaker. He has published the first of two volumes on Wisconsin's gay history. The second volume is due to be published shortly before our Pride Shabbat. Wagner was the first openly gay member of the Dane County Board of Supervisors, where he served for fourteen years. In 1983, governor Tony Earl appointed him to co-chair the Governor's Council on Lesbian and Gay Issues, the first in the nation. In 2005 he joined the board of Fair Wisconsin to fight the constitutional amendment against marriage equality. Services are at 7:30 pm, followed by an Oneg Shabbat sponsored by Temple Beth El Sisterhood.

To help our planning, RSVPs for the Rainbow Reception are appreciated.
