Celebratory Concert in Honor of Cantor Jacob Niemi

Saturday, April 18, 2026 1 Iyar 5786

5:00 PM - 8:30 PMSanctuary & YouTube

Please join us for this special concert for all ages, celebrating Cantor Jacob Niemi's sacred covenant with our congregation and the impact of his musical and spiritual leadership.

In Jewish tradition, the number seven carries deep meaning—symbolizing completion, blessing, and sacred cycles. In 2026 Cantor Niemi will enter his seventh year as Temple Beth El's beloved cantor, and we are delighted to mark this milestone with a special weekend of celebration.

This evening’s concert will feature community singing and performances by guest cantors and the Perfect Harmony Chorus.

5:00 pm Pre-concert nosh with delectable hors d’oeuvres and musical accompaniment, plus children's activities led by high school students

6:15 pm Havdalah followed by the celebratory concert

8:00 pm Dessert reception

Perfect Harmony Chorus is Madison’s lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally chorus for tenor, baritone, and bass singers. For nearly three decades it has enriched and transformed the Greater Madison and Southern Wisconsin community through music. Cantor Niemi sings with Perfect Harmony Chorus and serves on its board.

Please register below.

Join us also for a special pre-Shabbat nosh and Shabbat Worship in Honor of Cantor Jacob Niemi on Friday evening, and Torah Study led by Rabbi Emeritus Jonathan Biatch and brunch on Saturday morning!

Want to volunteer? The co-chairs, Erica Serlin, Pam Robbins, and Debi Kieserman, warmly welcome volunteers to help make this celebration truly special. Opportunities include food preparation, decorations, publicity, setup, and cleanup. Please sign up here to help. Contact Debi Kieserman at dkieserman2014@gmail.com with any questions.
