Food-A-Rama (FAR) is Sisterhood’s biggest fundraiser of the year and is so much more than a place to grab a great lunch. Each Election Day, our Temple comes alive with the sights, smells, and sounds of a beloved tradition that brings our community together in the best possible way. From classic corned beef sandwiches to homemade, elegant, and delicious baked goods, along with deli favorites like chopped liver and chicken soup with matzo balls, FAR is a celebration of comfort food made with care. This year, we even added something new to the mix, a popular hot dog stand that was a big hit with kids and adults alike.

Proceeds from FAR support our Temple, Camp Shalom, and important community organizations. FAR is also about the journey. Planning had already been underway for months, and cooking began in early fall, with members gathering for cooking sessions filled with teamwork, laughter, and a shared purpose. This year’s event offered something for everyone: drive-through curbside pickup, in-Temple pickup, tables in the Swarsensky Social Hall where friends could reconnect and form new friendships over lunch, deli items, and our celebrated bake sale that people look forward to year after year.

The numbers tell part of the story: together we made and sold 814 cookies, 261 pre-ordered corned beef sandwiches, 58 vegetarian Mediterranean lunches, and 316 quarts of a variety of soups, just to mention a few! It truly takes a village, and this year, more than 65 volunteers came together to plan, cook, market, communicate, set up, greet, and clean up. Some were seasoned volunteers who have been part of FAR for decades, while others experienced the joy of volunteering for this TBE tradition for the first time.

That mix of experience and fresh energy is part of what keeps FAR thriving. As we savor another successful year, we’re already looking ahead with excitement to our 60th Food-A-Rama on Election Day 2026. Be sure to mark your calendars and watch for the volunteer sign-up form.
