Fran Weinstein’s Generous Bequest

Fran and Laurence Weinstein (z”l) became Temple Beth El members in 1952. Their legacy is evident throughout the Jewish community in Madison. Their support and name can  be seen at Temple Beth El in our Weinstein Community Court, in Madison at the Max Weinstein Jewish Community building (home of the Jewish Federation of Madison and Gan HaYeled preschool), and on campus in the George L. Mosse/Laurence A. Weinstein Center for Jewish Studies at the University of Wisconsin. Their reach was wide.  Fran and Laurence were devoted to the Jewish community and especially dedicated to Jewish education. Fran gave generously to both youth and adult education (through the Rabbi Swarsensky Memorial Scholar in Residence Weekend fund) at Temple Beth El.  Her legacy of generosity continues with her final bequest.

Fran Weinstein’s generous bequest was donated to the Larry Kohn Chair of Jewish Learning. This fund was created to ensure that Temple Beth El provides high quality Jewish education, which includes being used for educator compensation ensuring long-term strength in education for our youth.

We are so grateful to Fran and Laurence for their leadership and generosity. Their legacy will live on at Temple Beth El as our community benefits from their dedication to TBE and to lifelong learning.
